(Center for Genomic Regulation) CRG investigators develop a technique to identify and classify proteins with less than 100 amino acids. These types of proteins account for only 16 percent of a bacterial genome’s coding capacity. This technique may be applied to guide the search for new proteins with different functions, such as antimicrobials.
